Qynn McCann

Qynn McCann, a 2018-19 LifeChanger of the Year nominee, is the Chief of Police at Roosevelt Independent School District in Lubbock, Texas. She has been in law enforcement since 1986 in one form or fashion. She started as a Dispatcher and Jailer at Hansford County Sheriff's Office and then moved to Lubbock and became a Dispatcher for Lubbock County Sheriff's Office in 1989.

Qynn worked with Lubbock County was promoted to Corporal and received her Texas Peace Officer's License in 1994. Being a single mom of two and working 12 hour shits at night was hard, so when she had an opportunity for a job at a school, she decided to go for it. She didn't think the job would be offered to her because her Lieutenant and Captain were both interviewing for the job. She remembers one of the interview group members asking her, "Why do you want a job at Roosevelt Independent School District?" Qynn answered, "I think I can make a difference in someone's life." She received the job at Roosevelt I.S.D. and has been working there since 1996.
