Christina has been an educator for 22 years, wearing many hats and titles over the course. She was a nominee for the 2018-19 national LifeChanger of the Year Award.
Currently, Christina teaches special and regular-education in grades 6-8, both in an inclusion classroom and in a special setting. She is also the Response to Intervention specialist and the School-Improvement chair for her school, as well as the liaison to the district. In addition to teaching on a daily basis, she ensures her school population of 987 students receives any academic and behavioral interventions necessary.
Currently, her school provides interventions for 462 students. As School Improvement chair, Christina has helped establish a network with connections to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Schools that Lead, allowing her to bring trauma-informed teaching practices and social-emotional learning to her school and district.
Currently, Christina is in a role that allows her to practice school improvement science methods within her own classroom in the form of Plan, Do, Study, Act cycles in order to find what works and share with building and district colleagues. As the School Improvement chair, she has helped set up student and parent school improvement groups to ensure all voices are heard.
