Ashley Kolaya

Ashley is the Associate Program Director for TED-Ed. She has grown and scaled TED-Ed’s Student Talks program from a few hundred participants to tens of thousands of students in 140 countries utilizing the TED-Ed platform to develop and share their stories with each other—and with the world. 

Ashley began her career advocating for youth voices as Senior Director for the YMCA’s national civic engagement program, Youth in Government. Ashley is the founder of Anchored., a company focusing on initiatives that increase authentic dialogue around issues of mental health, especially in youth populations. And she co-founded the professional leadership and team development consulting company, HumanMomentum.

She received a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Organizational Leadership at New York University and has at various times also been: a political strategist for a failing US Senate campaign, a commercial salmon fisher in Alaska, and a farmer in Costa Rica. Ashley and her dog Nashville the Dog have lived in NJ, SC, KY, NYC and now happily call San Francisco home-for-real.
